‘Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson’ is het nieuwste werk van biograaf Ian Halperin.
The Final Years of Michael Jackson’ is gekomen.

Helemaal mee eens Marjan,
Weeshuizen,goede doelen,ziekenhuizen..
Man in the mirror?earth song? what about us? Heel the world??? en zo kan ik doorgaan, heeft er iemand wel opgelet de afgelopen jaren????
hallo iedereen,
Rest in peace Mike, I miss you.
hallo iedereen,

Jackson at the White House South Portico with President Ronald Reagan and first lady Nancy Reagan, 1984
In 1984, Jackson was approached to donate “Beat It” as backing music for a commercial on drunk driving.[28] Jackson agreed and it was arranged for the singer to be awarded with an honour from the then President of the United States, Ronald Reagan.[28] Prior to collecting the award, President Reagan sent Jackson a telegram, which read:[8]
“ Your deep faith in God and adherence to traditional values are an inspiration to all of us. You’ve gained quite a number of fans along the road since “I Want You Back” and Nancy and I are among them. Keep up the good work, Michael. We’re very happy for you. ”
The presentation took place on May 14, 1984, at the White House.[28] Upon reaching the podium, Reagan remarked, “I hope you’ll forgive me, but we have quite a few young folks in the White House who all wanted me to give you the same message. They said to tell Michael, “Please give some TLC to the PYTs.”[29] A reference to Jackson’s Grammy Award-nominated song, “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)”. Reagan also stated that Jackson “is proof of what a person can accomplish through a lifestyle free of alcohol or drug abuse. People young and old respect that. And if Americans follow his example, then we can face up to the problem of drinking and driving, and we can, in Michael’s words, beat it.”[28][29]
In April 1990, Jackson returned to the White House to meet President George H. W. Bush, and whilst there President Bush recognised him as the “Artist of the Decade”.[30] On May 1, 1992, President Bush presented Jackson with an award acknowledging him as “a point of light ambassador”.[30][31] Jackson received the award in recognition for his efforts in inviting disadvantaged children to his Neverland Ranch.[31] Jackson was the only entertainer to receive the award.[31]

In 1988, Jackson was honoured with a Doctor of Humane Letters Degree, from Fisk University and the United Negro College Fund.[11]
In 1985, Michael Jackson was featured on a 60 cent stamp from the island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. In 1989, Michael Jackson’s former school, Gardner Street Elementary, christened the school auditorium the “Michael Jackson Auditorium”. Jackson appeared at the ceremony, in which the school children sang his hit song, “We Are the World”.[35] In 2003, after accusations of child molestation, the school chose to cover Jackson’s name with plywood. The school board stated that the request had come from parents who “felt more comfortable with it covered”.[35] Jackson’s spokesperson stated that he wondered “what those parents will say when Mr. Jackson is exonerated”.[35] Jackson was later acquitted of all charges.[36]
In 2008, Jackson’s Thriller album was inducted into the U.S. National Recording Registry. Each year, organizers select 25 recorded works to preserve in the Library of Congress archives based on historical, cultural or aesthetic significance. A recording is only eligible 10 years after its creation.[37]
Jackson was named Most Famous Alumnus of Gardner Street Elementary School, in hollywood, California and the school auditorium was renamed for him in 1989.[38][39]
